Management Libraries Network

Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) was born in the year 2000 and was registered as a Society under Societies Regulation Act of 1860. As you may be aware that MANLIBNET was established for sharing of resources and information among the libraries by fostering a spirit of cooperation and weaving these together in a networking arrangement. Keeping in view the importance of information as a vital resource, increasing cost of inputs, quantum of information stored, its desired quality and the speed with which the information can be retrieved, there are technology options which need to be known and exploited.

To achieve these broad objectives, Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) was initiated in year 1998 at the first convention held in Ahmedabad which was jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad and Ahmedabad Management Association by late Shri Ashok Jambhekar, the then President of MANLIBNET. This was followed by a series of Conferences and Seminars at various places including the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow; Indian Institute of Management, Kozikhode; XLRI, Jamshedpur; Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad; National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad; Nirma University, Ahmedbad; ICSSR, Mumbai and Delhi, KIIT University, Bhubaneshwar, SSIM, Secundrabad, IIHMR, Jaipur, University of Delhi South Campus,  IIM, Indore, EDI, Ahmedabad and TAPMI, Manipal

The primary objective of MANLIBNET is to provide a common forum to the professionals; and to develop understanding and co-operation particularly among management and business libraries and the librarians. Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) is a movement for sharing of resources and information among the libraries by fostering a spirit of cooperation and weaving them together in a networking arrangement.

Keeping in view the importance of information as a vital resource, and increasing cost of inputs, quantum of information stored its desired quality and the speed with which the information can be retrieved, there are technology options which need to be known and exploited.

MANLIBNET promotes outstanding library practices by identifying the Best Librarian from information professionals’ community and recognises the best academic work on an annual basis. We act as teachers and consultants to each other that help us identifying issues and overcome challenges with advice and support from around the country. On professional platforms, MANLIBNET tries to put you in contact with current and future leaders in the library profession. Librarians and Informational Professionals share their views by writing in MANLIBNET publications that ultimately enhances MANLIBNET’s visibility in the profession.
